Biography

Ileana Pintilie is an art historian, art critic, curator and instructor in the Department of Art at the West University in Timisoara, Romania. She has curated numerous monographic and collective exhibitions in Romania and abroad, including Zone Performance Festival (www. zonafestival.ro), and Body and the East from the 1960s to the present at the Museum of Modern art in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is an editor of the web magazine ARTMargins, Los Angeles (www.artmargins.com), and is the author of a number of works, including Actionism in Romania During the Communist Era (Cluj, Idea, 2000). She has also published articles and essays on contemporary art in national and international journals and catalogues.
