Aneta Szylak - Bio

Biography

Aneta Szylak, Poland. Curator, art critic. She is co-founder and currently director of the Wyspa Institute of Art in the Gdansk Shipyard premises in Poland and Vice-president of the Wyspa Progress Foundation. She founded in 1998 the Laznia (Bathhouse) Centre for Contemporary Art and was its Director until spring 2001. She is a PhD candidate at Goldsmith College in London and Copenhagen Doctoral School. Among others she curated: Architectures of Gender (2003), at the SculptureCenter, New York, the first Biennale of Polish Art in Lodz (2005) and Ewa Partum: The Legality of Space (summer 2006) and her writings have been published in Aprior Magazine, n.paradoxa, Art Journal, ArtKrush. Art Margins. She was invited in residence at the Frac Lorraine from October to December 2004.
