Biography

With a doctorate in art history, Linara Dovydaityte is a specialist of the 20th century art scene in Lithuania, and teaches at the art institute at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. Her research and articles deal notably with the links between art and politics and specifically explore the question of official art. She is seeking to pinpoint the specificity and the emergence of this Lithuanian art scene through the Soviet influence and the effects of propaganda and ideology. As exhibition curator at the Contemporary Art Centre of Vilnius (CAC) since 2002, she also co-edits with Simon Rees CAC interviu: conversation about art, a bilingual quarterly published by the CAC. No doubt her residence will bring a fresh view at the Frac Lorraine exhibition and bring this art scene to a wider audience.

L. Dovydaityte was born in 1975. She lives and works in Kaunas (Lithuania). Doctor of art history and art critic, exhibition curator at CAC Vilnius. http://www.cac.lt
